And of course another highlight was on Thursday when we almost thought it was time to go home, when suddenly we had another treat with our mystery reader arriving. Thank you to Lipika, (Deeta’s Mom), who came into the classroom to treat us to a read aloud. Our favourite time of the day!
We have almost completed all our interviews for our unit of study “Where we Live shapes How we live”. Thank you to Ms Nora for taking the time to conduct these interviews. We are now ready to start “building” our own homes from recycled materials and then create dioramas of different homes from around the world.
(This is what we need the shoeboxes for!) Thank you to everyone who have brought in their shoebox for our diorama.
We continue to enjoy our swimming lessons in PE, and although there were times this week that the water was really cold, we were brave and couldn’t wait to jump in and practice our new skills in the water.
In Writing Workshop Mrs. Michelle Goodison came in to visit us and teach us more about what GOOD WRITERS do. She commented on what enthusiastic writers we are. Thank you Mrs. G!
In Reading Workshop we have been using our “superpowers” as we explore different strategies to overcome unfamiliar and complex words. We have also focused on the importance of reading with fluency and expression as we try to “read like a river and not like a robot.”
And to end the week, we enjoyed time in the K2 – pod area by using the open-ended materials to show our creativity through play. The students always enjoy this time, and practices communication skills and how we treat each other in a respectful way in this space.
