Highlights of the week

Dutch tradition: Sinterklaas

First of all a huge thank you to Jeroen (Liv’s dad), for teaching us on Monday about Sinterklaas, a holiday in the Netherlands. It was very interesting to learn the difference between Sinterklaas and Santa, and also the meaning of Sinterklaas celebrations on December 5th every year.

United Nations Day

Uniting Nations Day was a HUGE success! Students did their best on stage and felt proud to wear a costume to present their home country. If you ask them what was their favourite event of the day, they respond without hesitating “The Food Festival!”  Thank you to each and everyone for making this day a success and so much fun. I am sure the moms were cooking all day long!

And to top it all up, we had another great celebration on Friday! Santa and all the Mommy helpers organized a wonderful class party to celebrate our term together.  Students each received a book from Santa, and again enjoyed food, food, glorious food! Thank you to each and everyone for this wonderful celebration. I know how much time and effort (and love!) goes into these preparations, and just know that it is very much appreciated!

I am sure students are really tired after this busy week, so have a relaxing weekend. 

The last week of school we will not be sending readers home for reading practice, so should you have any “Just Right” books  at home, please send it back to school so that we can do stock taking and prepare for the new term.

A reminder that Friday will be the last day of Term 1, and students in the Infant School will be going home at 11:00 am.
